Jakob Schiller

Jakob Schiller has worked at Outside for 15 years in various roles including gear editor and columnist. He currently oversees testing for cameras and sports watches but also regularly writes about overland, running, and ski gear. During his time in the gear world he’s lost count of items tested (thousands) but does remember befriending at least five different UPS drivers who’ve stopped by his house almost daily. A dad to four kids and two rambunctious dogs, Jakob knows how to maximize his adventure time and only allows the most useful gear into his one-car garage. He and his wife live in Albuquerque, New Mexico and will never leave the state because they love green chile and uncrowded camping spots.
